The aspiration of belonging

25 years old… and I still feel like I haven’t made a mark. Deep, I know.  That’s what’s currently on my mind.  Happy reading!

I’m Anna.  I work full-time for Caribou Coffee as an Assistant Store Manager.  So, it is quite possible I’m awake at 4a getting my day started with coffee.  My job is not a job.  I am one of those lucky people that getting up at 4a is more of an inconvenience because I want to sleep but not that I actually have to work.  Which is great!

I have been on and off from school since I was 17-years-old.  Not to toot my own horn, but I’ve been on my own since since just about then so sticking with school full-time, all the time is been quite difficult.  However, I’m content with moving forward constantly as best I can.

I think it was about 12-years-old, I knew I wanted to be in the Journalism industry.  I had always wanted to be a broadcaster and since I’ve taken more classes and advanced my skills, I’ve realized I’ve wanted to be an international Journalist for news organizations like Fox, AP, CNN.. etc.  I can’t wait for the day I’m stuck in the middle of chaos and be able to genuinely write about who, what, when, where, and how.

I also am double majoring in Aviation Flight Technology and Journalism at EMU.  So, I know how to fly an aircraft.  And that’s another part of my life that has been getting done as much as money will allow.  Ahh, money.. I hate that life is centered all around that.

With one class under my belt, I was sought out for an internship.  I posted my Washtenaw Voice articles at my job which is in the center of Ann Arbor.  We serve a lot of writers from the Ann Arbor Journal and AnnArbor.com.  Jessica Sendra from AnnArbor.com recommended me to Stefanie Murray.  I covered the Central Ann Arbor area so anything that in the context of neighborhood news in the 48104 area code was my beat.  The internship was completed in the end of August and it was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had and I enjoyed my time there immensely.  After the fact, I have aided other writes at AnnArbor.com in their research while I took a semester off of school again, due to money issues.

I’m looking forward to this semester a lot.  I am paying for it on my own with no assistance from anyone and so I take a lot of pride in doing a good job this semester.
